Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will be the home of American Express’ largest Centurion Lounge, featuring a soul food menu and whiskey bar.
Flyers transiting through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) now have a new reason to arrive at the airport earlier – or book a longer layover.
American Express announced their latest and biggest Centurion Lounge will open at the notoriously busy airport on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
Largest Space Features Whiskey Bar, Southern Food Menu
The Centurion Lounge in Atlanta comes in at nearly 26,000 square feet, located at the airport’s Concourse E near gate E-11. Open to select American Express cardholders, the space reflects the unique culture of northern Georgia.
With ample greenery, the lounge plays on Atlanta’s reputation as “The City in the Forest.” In the main seating area stands a 50-year-old olive tree, surrounded by outdoor terraces where travelers can unwind between flights. Each outdoor space features heaters and fans for year-round usage.
Centurion Lounges are known for their impressive food and beverage offerings, and the Atlanta space is no exception. American Express teamed with local restauranteur (and former flight attendant) Deobrah Van Treece to come up with a menu featuring the best of the city. Combining traditions from the South with international flavors, some of the dishes flyers can look forward to includes Black Eyed Pea Biryani, Za’atar Grilled Chicken Thighs with Green Tomato Chimichurri, and a Twisted Soul Salad with a strawberry peppercorn vinaigrette. A dedicated food and beverage bar will also be available with gluten free and vegan options.
Another first for the Centurion Lounges is the dedicated whiskey bar. Travelers can choose to sample over 20 classic and new American whiskeys, or sip on a cocktail by award-winning mixologist Jim Meehan. Among the five specialty whiskey cocktails are the “Drink a Peach,” featuring peach-flavored whiskey and bitters, along with the “Mayme, Tailored,” pairing American whiskey with ginger beer.
The lounge will become the 28th location in the Centurion Network, complementing their locations across the United States. Future Centurion Lounge locations include Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
