The Delta SkyMiles American Express cards are getting upgraded with enhanced companion certificates, more statement credits, and annual Medallion Qualifying Dollar head starts.
The Delta SkyMiles American Express cards are getting an upgrade – albeit with an increase in annual fees.
American Express and Delta announced the new benefits on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
Statement Credits and MQD Boosts Lead Card Benefit Changes
The new benefits are available on the personal and business versions of the Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card, the Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card, and the Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card. As with elite status, the higher-tier cards get more bonuses.
For the Delta SkyMiles Gold, the new benefits include an increased $200 Delta flight statement credit after spending $10,000 on the card in a calendar year. The card also includes a $100 Delta Stays credit. On the business version, the Delta Stays credit increases to $150. New card members still get a $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, followed by an increased $150 annual fee.
The Delta SkyMiles Platinum card also gets a $150 Delta Stays statement credit but comes with more bonuses. Cardholders will start the Medallion Qualifying Year with a $2,500 boost in Medallion Qualifying Dollars along with earning $1 MQD for every $20 spent on the card. The companion pass is expanding to destinations outside the continental U.S.: Flyers can now use it on flights to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America.
Two additional credits come with the SkyMiles Platinum Card: $10 in rideshare credit each month and a $10 Resy credit each month – an annual value of up to $120 each. Cardholders also get upgraded to Hertz Five Star status and will also qualify for upgrades on Delta flights behind SkyMiles Medallions and Reserve card members. The annual fee is increasing by $100 to $350 annually.
At the top end, the Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card comes with some one-time benefits to welcome card members to the new experience. Just for 2024, existing cardholders before Feb. 1 will get a complimentary one-time $100 flight credit along with a one-time deposit of $1,000 MQDs, bringing their head start to $3,500 MQDs this year. Spending on the card also earns $1 MQD for every $10 in spending.
The companion certificate is also expanded to the same destinations but can also be used on tickets in Delta Comfort+ and first class. The card comes with even more credits as well: In addition to the $10 monthly rideshare credit, flyers get a $20 Resy credit per month (an annual value of up to $240) and $200 in Delta Stays credits. Card members also receive four one-time Sky Club guest passes annually, and Hertz Presidents Circle status. Flight upgrades are also available by holding the card, behind Medallion flyers and ahead of Platinum cardholders. The annual fee is also increasing to $650 per year.
To celebrate the new benefits, American Express and Delta are running limited time offers for select cards available through March 27, 2024. Flyers can check out the offers by visiting the personal cards and business cards websites.
