Skellig Six18 Distillery said the global travel retail market would be ‘pivotal’ for the Irish whiskey producer as it aims to grow its presence in the channel.
The distillery, which produces gin and Irish whiskey, will focus on export markets like Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands, with particular focus on international travellers passing through Dublin, Cork, and Kerry airports.
Skellig Six18 attended the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) event in Cannes, France, in December, which welcomed the biggest number of delegation partners from Ireland in the event’s history.
ILTM is an invitation-only event that attracts more than 1,800 luxury travel buyers and travel retail specialists from around 95 countries.
Skellig Six18 Distillery showcased its portfolio at the event, including its award-winning gin and its single pot still whiskey.
June O’Connell, Skellig Six18 CEO, said: “ILTM Cannes allowed Skellig Six18 Distillery to showcase our commitment to exceptional spirits, enhancing Irish luxury tourism.
“The Tourism Ireland tagline, ‘where luxury comes naturally,’ reflects our ethos, emphasising our natural setting and quality products.”
The distillery is located in the heart of the Ring of Kerry and invites tourists to visit the production facility.
The producer hopes this will further boost its travel retail ambitions.
Norma O’Shea, visitor experience manager, said: “Our tours introduce the brand to global travellers, creating lasting impressions.
“This engagement is crucial as it drivers post-holiday purchases through our retail partners, helping us strengthen our footprint in Europe and beyond. Every aspect of our visitor experience to make our brand a memorable part of their journey.”
In December last year, the Irish distillery signed a distribution deal with Irish Whiskeys.de to launch its products in Germany.
