In 2018, Hyatt Hotels was the first to partner with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, giving the group access to their World of Hyatt members. It was rumored on the FlyerTalk forums that the relationship may end as late as the second half of 2024, based on the fact that some Small Luxury Hotels properties were not bookable through Hyatt’s portals for later in the year.
Hilton’s announcement with the luxury hotel group confirms the relationship is terminating and moving to Hilton Honors. Comparing the 560-property group to the Waldorf Astoria, Conrad Hotels, and LXR Hotels and Resorts, Hilton says the destinations “are highly complementary to Hilton’s vast network of hotels and will give guests access to additional luxury accommodations in hundreds of new destinations.”
As the program ramps up, over 180 million Hilton Honors members will be able to book Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties through Hilton’s portals, earn Hilton Honors points with each eligible stay, and redeem points for stays at participating properties. More details of the partnership are expected to be announced in the coming months. Neither brand announced how long the partnership was signed for.
“Hilton guests are among the most sophisticated travelers in the world, and we are always looking for amazing new experiences to share with them,” Chris Silcock, president of global brands and commercial services at Hilton, said in a press release. “This relationship with Small Luxury Hotels of the World will grant Hilton customers and Hilton Honors members access to a community of high-end boutique hotels in exciting new luxury travel destinations, giving them more ways to dream, book, and earn and redeem points with Hilton.”
The move comes as Hilton continues to position themselves as the leader of the hospitality space. In 2023, the company earned top spots in the 2023 J.D. Power North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index.
