Ready to dip your toes in the icy waters of cold plunging? You’re not alone. According to Google data, searches for “cold plunge” have nearly tripled over the last year. Though the science on cold plunging’s effects is mixed, some studies show promise in its ability to help fight inflammation, anxiety, and even stress. And sure, you can build a cold plunge set up in your own backyard, but, come on, you’re reading this on Travel + Leisure, so you didn’t think we were going to present you with any old cold plunging opportunity, did you?
Rather than settle for a basic cold plunge, this year, TCS World Travel, a private jet expedition company, is inviting truly adventurous travellers to join its newest trip — A Nordic Adventure.
The expedition will take guests on a 20-day journey to eight locations across the globe, all in an effort to personally dip in the best cold plunge locations on the planet. The entire thing will be hosted by Shelly Cline, TCS World Travel’s president, who is an avid plunger herself.
“I am a huge proponent of cold-water plunging, which is something I have been doing regularly since 2019,” Cline shared in a statement. “I have found the benefits to include improved mood and mental well-being, increased mental clarity, stress reduction, and even better sleep. I can’t wait to share these experiences with our guests in locales ranging from the icy waters of Greenland to the beaches of Denmark.”
A private jet tour to some of the best cold plunge destinations in the world
The journey kicks off in Reykjavík, Iceland, where guests will meet their fellow passengers as well as their expedition leaders. Here, travellers can explore the nation’s gorgeous natural landscapes, including its geysers, waterfalls, and lava fields, and take a dip in both its chilling waters and its geothermal pools. Overnight, guests will stay at the Reykjavik Edition Hotel before departing for their next stop in Greenland. In Greenland, guests will board a four-day private cruise to explore glaciers and dip into the frigid sea if they’re feeling compelled.
From there, travellers will return to Reykjavík for a night before departing to Helsinki, Finland, where they can visit the Helsinki Cathedral and Uspenski Cathedral and swim and sauna at a beach on the Gulf of Finland.
Next, it’s on to Tallinn, Estonia, for a day trip through the medieval town. Following Estonia, guests will depart to Copenhagen for a two-day trip filled with castle visits, local markets, and, yes, a dive into the Baltic Sea.
The end of the journey includes a day trip to the Faroe Islands, followed by a return to Iceland for a farewell dinner, where everyone can share their favourite cold water memories.
The trip will take place from July 4 to July 18, 2024. Just 52 guests will board the company’s Airbus A321, which comes stocked with only flatbed seats, so every guest can stay comfortable throughout the journey. The getaway is all-inclusive, meaning travel on the privately chartered jet and cruise ship, hotel stays, ground transport, meals, and activities are all a part of the USD 119,950 (INR 99,70,166) per person rate.
